Our women's health services

Our doctors, surgeons, nurses and specialists understand the unique concerns related to women's health and offer a variety of services, including:

Breast care

The best way to ensure your breast health is through regular screenings, such as breast exams, breast ultrasounds and mammograms. The American Cancer Society recommends women get annual mammograms starting at age 40. At our Breast Center, we offer diagnostic imaging that detects abnormalities in the early stages, ensuring the best possible health outcomes.

Schedule a Mammogram

You can now schedule a screening mammogram online. For assistance scheduling your screening or diagnostic mammogram please call 540-776-4983.

Gynecology services

We offer women in the Salem/Roanoke metro area complete care for conditions of the female reproductive system and pelvic region. Our board-certified gynecologists provide gynecologic and urogynecologic services to treat conditions such as menstrual issues, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, pelvic floor problems and incontinence. We often use minimally invasive approaches, such as robot-assisted surgery; because these procedures are done through tiny incisions, patients experience less pain, less scarring and a faster recovery compared to traditional surgery.

Maternity care

Choosing the hospital where you give birth is an important decision. At our birthing center, we focus on giving you the childbirth experience you want with safe outcomes for both mom and baby.

In addition to offering support and expert care through labor and delivery, our prenatal services and maternity classes will ensure you stay healthy and prepared during your pregnancy, while our postpartum services help you with breastfeeding and settling in with your little one after delivery.

Infertility treatment

If you struggle with infertility, you need compassionate care and innovative approaches based on medical best practices. Our fertility specialists partner with you to develop a treatment plan that works for you and your family.

Cancer care

Being diagnosed with cancer can be frightening and can raise several questions. The team of oncologists, nurses and specialists in our cancer care program work together to provide the answers you need and develop the most effective course of treatment. We treat a number of cancers that affect women, including breast and gynecologic cancers.

Emotional wellness

Our comprehensive behavioral health programs offer patients 13 and older a calm, supportive environment so they can focus on improving their mental well-being. We provide both inpatient and outpatient programs to address conditions like anxiety, postpartum depression and drug and alcohol detoxification.

Women and heart disease

Heart disease prevention and treatment are top priorities at our hospital. Our cardiologists strive to educate patients about heart attack symptoms, which often present differently in women than in men. For example, the most common heart attack symptom for men is chest pain, and women may experience jaw pain, nausea, pain in the lower stomach and/or extreme fatigue. We also provide cardiac rehabilitation to help patients recover from cardiac events.

Bone density screenings

After menopause, women may experience bone density issues that can lead to dangerous fractures. Our imaging centers offer bone density screenings known as dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans. A DEXA scan uses minimal radiation and measures bone density while providing a risk assessment for fractures.
