Specialty sports medicine services

We offer training and conditioning for a wide range of activities and athletes, including programs designed for:

Athletes 50 years old or older

We offer training for athletes 50 years old or older who play a sport or like to stay active. Programs are customized to your needs and may include guidance on lowering risk for injury, improving nutrition, proper hydration and staying healthy. Our specialists also take into account any medical conditions you may have.

Baseball and softball players

In addition to pre-season screening for injuries, we offer video-aided pitching/throwing analysis and computerized assessment of total body pitching mechanics, from wind up to follow-through. We also provide evidence-based recommendations to improve performance and reduce injury.

Cyclists

We offer cyclist consultations that address posture, alignment and biomechanics (structure and movement of your body) to help you reduce the risk of injury and improve your experience.

Dancers

Our team offers extensive screening for hypermobility, posture, flexibility, lower extremity and core strength. We create personalized training aimed at improving your technique, conditioning and quality of movement.

Female athletes

Our team has expertise in helping female athletes with special needs related to pregnancy and postpartum issues. We are also trained to help with the "female athlete triad" — a syndrome involving menstrual changes, energy imbalance and bone health. We help you reduce the risk of injury and improve strength for better performance.

Golfers

In addition to swing analysis, we outline specific ways to perfect your swing and prevent injuries caused by improper technique.

Runners

Our experts use video gait analysis, which includes assessing your running action on a treadmill, as well as biomechanics to create customized plans that reduce your risk of injury.

Rehabilitation and physical therapy

Experienced therapists in our physical therapy and rehab programs help diagnose, manage and treat disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, bones and joints. During treatment, physical therapists will medically supervise exercise that helps patients restore and maintain maximum movement and function. Physical therapy may include cardiovascular exercise, strength training, endurance exercises and manual therapy techniques.

Sports concussion program

We offer a comprehensive program to assist you in understanding and reacting to sports-related head injuries. Our program draws on the expertise of sports medicine experts, neurologists and neuropsychologists to assist in an athlete's full recovery.

If you suspect someone has had a concussion

A concussion is a brain injury caused by trauma to the head that can have serious consequences if undiagnosed and untreated. If you suspect someone has experienced a concussion, remove the athlete from play and have them evaluated by an appropriate healthcare professional immediately.

Sports injury surgery

Sometimes injuries may require surgical intervention to speed recovery. Some of the common sports-related procedures our orthopedic surgeons offer include:

  • Cartilage reconstruction
  • Elbow tendon repair
  • Knee ligament repair and reconstruction
  • Joint replacement
  • Meniscus surgery
  • Rotator cuff shoulder repair
  • Tommy John surgery

Minimally invasive surgery

When possible, we perform minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, which involves small incisions and inserting a lighted tube into the joint. This allows surgeons to diagnose your condition and perform a variety of procedures on ligaments, bones, cartilage and tendons. Minimally invasive surgery results in less pain, less scarring and a quicker recovery time.
