Breast health services we offer
Whether you have a family history of breast cancer or you require high-risk screening, our services are designed to detect major issues before they arise or worsen.
Our breast imaging center
If you are concerned about a breast condition, our care process begins with imaging. No matter the severity of your condition, we want to help you feel confident in your treatment. Our range of available breast imaging services include:
- 3D mammography — This imaging test combines multiple X-rays to create three-dimensional images of the breast. 3D mammograms are preferred to traditional mammograms due to their ability to detect more cancers. They can also be used to investigate conditions such as breast pain and masses.
- Bone density screenings — These screenings use X-rays to measure calcium and bone mineral levels. If you have breast cancer, bone density screenings are crucial to make sure your bones stay strong during treatment. They also help to detect and prevent cancer-related osteoporosis.
- Breast ultrasound — These exams use soundwaves to view internal structures in order to help diagnose abnormalities found during other tests. Ultrasounds also help physicians see certain types of breast lesions and anomalies that remain unclear on a mammogram.
- Cyst aspiration — This procedure involves draining fluid from a breast cyst with a needle. The procedure can be helpful in the early detection of cancer if the cyst turns out to be malignant. Aspirating the fluid can also alleviate symptoms and discomfort.
- Stereotactic breast biopsy — This procedure uses mammograms to locate abnormalities that may require tissue samples for further examination. Less invasive than a surgical biopsy, this procedure involves placing the breast between two plates and taking a sample from the appropriate location with a needle.
- Ultrasound core needle biopsy — This type of biopsy is typically performed if breast cancer has been found on other tests. Using an ultrasound to locate the problem area, a spring-loaded needle with a suction device is used to remove appropriate breast tissue.
Breast surgery
Depending on the severity of your condition, breast cancer treatments can involve surgery. This can mean anything, from removing cancerous tissues to a full breast reconstruction. If you require surgery, our breast specialists will craft a unique treatment plan to fit your specific condition.
When having breast surgery, you will either undergo a lumpectomy, where only the cancerous part of the breast is removed, or a mastectomy, in which the entire breast is removed. Either way, we will support you from the beginning to make sure you have the greatest understanding of both your condition and your treatment plan.
