Chief Executive Officer

Ben Brown was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of Dominion Hospital in Falls Church, VA in May 2021.

Ben has been a part of HCA Healthcare since 2008 where he began his career with Reston Hospital Center as an Assistant Administrator. In 2011 he joined the HCA Chief Operating Officer (COO) Development program. Two years later Ben accepted the position of COO at StoneSprings Hospital Center, playing a vital role in the building and opening of HCA’s newest facility.

In spring of 2018, Ben accepted the role of COO at Reston Hospital Center.  During his tenure, he oversaw several core operational functions and key service lines including emergency services/trauma, surgical services, oncology, rehabilitation services, as well as plant operations, imaging, dietary, environmental services, and respiratory therapy. Ben was instrumental in the success of many strategic initiatives including the opening of an 18-bed Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, American College of Surgeons verification of Reston’s Level II Trauma Center, and launch of a neuro intervention program for advanced stroke care.

A native of Pueblo, Colorado, Ben holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University. He also graduated from The George Washington University with a Masters in Health Services Administration.

Chief Financial Officer

Chris joined StoneSprings Hospital Center & Dominion Hospital as Chief Financial Officer in September 2022.

Prior to StoneSprings & Dominion, Chris served as Associate Chief Financial Officer of Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, a 767-bed Level II Trauma Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care and Kidney Transplant Program.

Before joining Henrico Doctors’, Chris served as Controller at Ocala Health Systems in Ocala, Florida. Ocala is 474-bed Level II trauma program, GME program with over +120 residents/fellows and 3 FSERs.

Chris received his Bachelors of Science in Accounting from San Francisco State University.

Gary Litovitz, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Gary Litovitz, a board-certified psychiatrist, has been the Medical Director of Dominion Hospital for more than 20 years and of the Reflections Eating Disorders Treatment Center since our doors opened. He’s a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he completed his residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in psychosomatic medicine.

In addition to his leadership at Dominion Hospital and Reflections, Dr. Litovitz has served as a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at Georgetown University School of Medicine. He devotes much of his practice to the treatment of eating disorders and related psychiatric disorders and writes and lectures on a variety of associated topics, including eating disorders, self-injury, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder and other anxiety disorders.

He is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), Washington Society for the Study of Eating Disorders and Obesity (WSSEDO) and the Academy of Eating Disorders (AED). A Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), Dr. Litovitz also maintains an outpatient psychiatry practice in the Tysons Corner area of Vienna, VA.

Rick Wallace

Chief Nursing Officer

Rick Wallace has been working in behavioral health for over 20 years. He began his journey as a Mental Health Technician before becoming a nurse. He has worked with children, adolescents, adults and geriatric populations, serving a wide range of behavioral health needs. Over the years he has worked as a unit manager, director, campus director and now as CNO.

Rick earned his AA and then BSN at Kentucky Wesleyan College. He went on to earn his Master’s in Nursing with a certificate in Health System Administration from Towson University and is currently a DNP student at Grand Canyon University. Rick is also ANCC Certified in psychiatric nursing.

Rick has been married since October 1999 and together he and his wife two sons. He enjoys traveling, running and being outside.

Donald A. Kniffen, Jr., MBA, CPHQ, CPHRM, CPPS

Assistant Administrator

Don Kniffen, Jr. is currently the Assistant Administrator for Dominion Hospital. Mr. Kniffen has worked in behavioral health for over 30 years and has previously held leadership positions with Adventist Healthcare and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Mr. Kniffen’s expertise includes healthcare operations, quality, and patient safety. Professional certifications include Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), Patient Safety (CPPS), and Six Sigma (Green Belt). Mr. Kniffen holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland and MBA from the Robert H. Smith School of Business.

Volunteer work includes current membership on the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services (PRS) board of Directors and previously as a Board member of CrisisLink.

Michael Repie, Ph.D.

Senior Director of Clinical Services

Dr. Repie received his B.S. in Secondary Education and his M.A. in Special Education in from West Virginia University. He received his Ph.D. in Special Education, with a minor in Healthcare Administration from George Mason University.

Dr. Repie served Dominion for many years as Director of Education Services, and accepted the position of Senior Director of Clinical Services, assuming clinical oversight for all service lines, and participating as part of the senior leadership team in 2015. Dr. Repie is a published author, and remains active on the faculty of George Mason University, teaching courses and serving as faculty advisor and practicum supervisor.

Dr. Repie is married, and has two boys. He is avid about health, fitness, and wellness, and can often be found running, road biking, or snow skiing.

Melissa Garcia, LCSW, MBA

Director of Operations

Melissa Garcia was appointed the Director of Operations of Dominion Hospital in July of 2019. Prior to transitioning to this leadership role, Melissa held the position of Director of Social Work at Dominion Hospital and has been with HCA Healthcare since February 2015.

Prior to joining Dominion Hospital, Melissa has worked in behavioral health facilities in both the public and private sector in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Melissa earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Healthcare Administration from Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont. Melissa is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has helped bridge the clinical and operational components of healthcare to drive strategy and growth.

Melissa and her husband have two daughters. They enjoy running, hiking, and finding local coffee shops wherever they go. Melissa continues to run in her spare time and has a goal to complete a marathon in each state before 2030.
