StoneSprings OB/GYN physician shares mission of Service Beyond Borders
Sangeeta founded Service Beyond Borders to provide access to healthcare for underserved populations.
Sangeeta Sinha, MD, StoneSprings Ob/Gyn is the Founder of Service Beyond Borders (SBB), a global nonprofit organization focused on educating, increasing awareness, and providing access to healthcare for women and children in underserved populations around the world.
What began in 2013, as an annual trip by Dr. Sinha to educate women about the importance of general gynecological care in rural areas in India, has now expanded to a global nonprofit organization that coordinates multiple trips annually with a group of providers and clinicians to help women and children in need. They’ve partnered with local providers and resources in India as well to provide thousands of women and their children with primary and gyn education, medical care, pre-natal supplements and many nourishments.
“I was so appreciative to my country for providing me with a scholarship for my medical education, that I wanted to give back,” says Dr. Sinha. While recovering from rotator cuff surgery and before she could return to her thriving medical practice, Dr. Sinha established her charity organization and has been astonished at the support and volunteerism SBB has received. “There is so much need in these rural areas of India, said Dr. Sinha. “I am grateful for all the providers, students and volunteers who have helped us deliver our mission.”
Service Beyond Borders’ newest initiative is establishing a local, free medical clinic at the community Temples in Northern Virginia. These clinics are held once a month and provides primary and gyn care as well as food and other nutritional items including supplements and more to women and children in need.
