Reina Rosa
Environmental Services Week: Spotlight on longtime Reston Hospital Center colleague
In honor of Environmental Services Week, we are highlighting Reina Rosa, the environmental services supervisor at Reston Hospital Center. Reina joined HCA Healthcare 17 years ago when her cousin, who worked at Reston at the time, told her there were openings in environmental services. Rosa said she was thrilled when she interviewed and got the job. She spent the next five years working the second shift before changing to the day shift and then becoming a supervisor. “Normally, I handle the phones, get beds, and perform the discharge checks after rooms have been disinfected. I also fill in wherever needed," Rosa said.
Now after almost two decades in the facility, most colleagues know Rosa's smile that lights up a room. When asked what she enjoys about her job, she said: “I just really like working with people and I really like working with EVS. They do a really good job.”
She has always been a hard worker. Her family came to Los Angeles when she was 13 and eventually moved to the East Coast to settle in Virginia. She has created her own family of four daughters, ages 5 to 23. Her eldest daughter, Brandi, has worked at Reston for the last 18 months in food and nutrition, and her twenty-year-old daughter is starting a role in supply chain later this month. Rosa said it is nice having her family work in the same place, even though they don’t always see each other.
Since she and her older daughter do not always work the same shift, Rosa shared that her favorite thing to do outside of work is to spend family time together with all of her daughters, which includes regularly visiting her mother who lives nearby.
