Jessica Drollette, central sterile processing technician, received donation in time of need

HCA Healthcare is committed to the care and improvement of human life, which extends to our vast network of colleagues. Oftentimes, it can be difficult to ask for help or monetary assistance, which is why the HCA Healthcare Hope Fund provides critical financial support when our colleagues need it the most. So far in 2023, more than 4,400 colleagues have received over $12 million in donations from others through the Hope Fund.

Jessica Drollette, a central sterile processing technician at Reston Hospital Center, is one of the many persons whose life was changed thanks to the kindness of donors. Because of a two-month battle with pneumonia, she was unable to attend work and became overwhelmed with stress and anxiety about her monthly bills. That’s when she turned to the Hope Fund for assistance.

“The amount of stress I was under was immense and the Hope Fund assistance lifted my burden. I could breathe easy again,” Drollette said. “The pneumonia I had would not leave my lungs, and I truly believe my anxiety was hindering my healing journey. The support I received allowed me to let go of the stress and heal.”

Colleagues are seeking assistance from the Hope Fund now more than ever. Financial hardships due to natural disaster, illness/injury, domestic violence, death of a loved one, or other difficult situations are projected to outpace donations this year. By giving to the Hope Fund, you are providing support for colleagues like Jessica.

“Do not feel ashamed for needing and asking for help,” she said. “We help patients every day along their healing journey, and as healthcare professionals, it is okay to ask for help along our healing journey as well. You miss out on everything if you do nothing. You matter and your health matters.”
