LewisGale Hospital Alleghany celebrates colleague with 50 years of service
Colleagues, friends, and family gathered to celebrate Brenda Woodie's 50th work anniversary.
Colleagues, friends, family and members of the community gathered at LewisGale Hospital Alleghany on Friday, Nov. 22 to celebrate Brenda Woodie’s 50th work anniversary. An executive administrative assistant, Woodie began her career at the hospital in November 1974.
The party was a surprise to Woodie who became emotional when she realized what she thought was a Friendsgiving meal was actually a celebration in her honor.
“I am in awe of all that took place,” said Woodie. “It was certainly a complete surprise and overwhelming, but I am so grateful to everyone who participated. I truly love my job and this hospital and everyone who works here.”
During the celebration, Nicole Tucker, interim chief executive officer/chief nursing officer unveiled a plaque proclaiming a meeting room the Brenda Woodie Board Room. “Words aren’t adequate to express how much Brenda means to us,” Tucker said. “She is a person of great integrity who has touched countless lives over the years. She has truly made this hospital, community and each of us better for knowing and working alongside her.”
Woodie serves on numerous organizations including the Community Services Board and the Alleghany Area Council of Released Time Weekday Religious Education. She said she has no plans to retire or slowdown anytime soon.
