Allyssa Tobitt
HCA Healthcare’s youngest chief executive officer is making history at Parham Doctors’ Hospital. Out of 186 hospitals and more than 2,000 sites of care across the United States, Tobitt is HCA Healthcare’s youngest CEO. She joined the Richmond, Virginia, hospital in November 2022 and is quickly acclimating to not only a new position, but a new city as well.
In less than five months, she is expanding upon Parham Doctors’ reputation as a leading specialty surgical hospital by bringing augmented reality technology to the community. She is also growing the hospital’s bariatrics program with new options for patients. Additionally, she is co-chairing the inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council for HCA Virginia hospitals in the Richmond market. In a traditionally male-dominated field, she is paving her own way and leading by example.
Tobitt is a decisive, team-oriented, and humble leader – when she learned she was the enterprise’s youngest CEO, she ensured others received recognition for her successes. She credits a host of mentors, including current and retired HCA executives, from whom she’s learned valuable lessons. She said these mentors taught her through their own leadership, encouragement, and trust in their teams, which helped prepare her for the top executive role at Parham Doctors’. She understands the value of mentorship, and in turn is a mentor to many others.
Tobitt’s dedication to the care and improvement of human life is evident throughout her work both inside and outside of the hospital. In her spare time, she said she and her husband are enjoying everything Richmond has to offer, including its vibrant restaurant and music scene.
