Saving lives with advanced communication technology

As part of our commitment to patient-focused care, we were the first hospital system in Southwest Virginia to use a new real-time, cloud-based new communication network and mobile app technology connecting our hospital with emergency medical services (EMS) in the field.

This system enables ER physicians to diagnose a life-threatening event (such as a stroke, heart attack, shock or sepsis) before the patient even arrives at the hospital. It also enables the ER to activate the appropriate healthcare team to begin administering immediate, appropriate and lifesaving care as soon as the patient arrives, further increasing the odds of a successful recovery.
