Pediatric emergency care

Our dedicated pediatric ER is separate from our hospital's main ER for your child's comfort. Everything about our pediatric ER is designed with your child in mind. This includes its own entrance separate from the main ER, an exclusive, brightly decorated waiting area and kid-friendly equipment our pediatric specialists use.

Pediatric asthma certification

Joint Commission

Chippenham Hospital is the only hospital in Virginia and one of only 10 in the country to have received the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for pediatric asthma certification.

Our pediatric center's "Hoppymobiles"

Going to surgery in a wheelchair or on a stretcher can be frightening for children. That is why our young patients drive their Hoppymobile to surgery. The motorized vehicles help your child feel more comfortable, and each Hoppymobile is customized with our children's-care mascot, Hoppy.

How the Hoppymobiles work

Each car can be driven by the child or can be controlled by remote for children who may have trouble steering. Prior to "hitting the road," each driver will receive an official Hoppymobile driver's license, which has their name on it.

Hoppymobiles in the news

We are proud to share that our Hoppymobiles have been featured in the local news. Some of those features are included below:
