Women's health services we provide

Whether you have a serious disorder, are giving birth or are simply getting your well-woman exam, we connect you to the best services available.

Breast health services

If you are 40 years old or older, receiving an annual mammogram is one of the most proactive things you can do for your health. We provide these and other breast health services at our Advanced Diagnostic Breast Center. Here, we employ an expert breast care team that performs a range of diagnostic exams, including ultrasounds, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), breast density evaluations and mammograms. Breast cancer has the potential to affect up to one in eight women, so we are dedicated to screening, identifying and treating it in its earliest stages.

Gynecology

Our gynecologists and OB/GYNs in Richmond, VA expertly treat a wide range of conditions, from bladder disorders to gynecologic cancer. Using their extensive experience, these specialists are here to provide you with the personalized care you need, including well-woman exams, infertility care, pelvic floor therapy and reconstructive procedures for pelvic floor disorders.

Minimally invasive gynecological surgery

Many gynecological and urogynecological conditions can be treated with minimally invasive surgical techniques, such as robotic surgery. Minimally invasive surgery means the procedure requires only a few small incisions, which typically leads to a shorter hospital stay and a quicker return to your everyday activities.

Pregnancy and childbirth services

Whether your pregnancy is routine or high-risk, our OB/GYNs, perinatologists and certified nurse midwives (CNMs) work together to provide individualized prenatal care for a healthy pregnancy. We also provide support to mothers with substance use concerns through our maternal addiction program, Safe Circle RVA.

When the big day comes, our childbirth services team is with you every step of the way, guiding you through labor in our soothing labor and delivery unit designed for your comfort.

Additionally, we are here to help you learn to care for your little one after birth. Should your baby need extra support, our hospital is home to a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Obstetric and gynecological emergency care

If you are experiencing a gynecological or pregnancy-related emergency, our emergency room (ER) is equipped to provide complete care, no matter your symptoms. Symptoms to look out for include:

  • Excessive vaginal bleeding
  • Intense pelvic pain
  • Sudden, severe stomach/abdomen pain
