Three HCA Virginia Health System hospitals among Healthgrades Nation's Best Hospitals
Healthgrades names three HCA Virginia Health System hospitals among Nation's Best Hospitals for Clinical Excellence.
Richmond, Va. — Three HCA Virginia Health System hospitals were named this week among America’s Best Hospitals for 2023, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting doctors and patients. The awards recognize clinical excellence in a nationwide survey, and included:
- Chippenham Hospital
- Recipient of Healthgrades® 'America's 250 Best Hospitals' Award™ for 3 Years in a Row (2020-2023)
- Henrico Doctors' Hospital
- Recipient of Healthgrades® 'America's 100 Best Hospitals' Award™ for two years in a row, (2022-2023)
- Recipient of Healthgrades® 'America's 250 Best Hospitals' Award™ for 6 Years in a Row (2018-2023)
- Reston Hospital Center
- Recipient of Healthgrades® 'America's 250 Best Hospitals' Award™ for two years in a row (2022-2023)
This achievement puts the hospitals in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance (for hospitals ranked among the top 250), and top 2% of hospitals nationwide (for those ranked among the top 100), across the most common conditions and procedures.
“Our care teams are focused on our mission to provide world-class care for our patients and their families,” said Elizabeth Mikula, HCA Healthcare Capital Division vice president of quality. “Recognition among the top hospitals in the nation is a reflection of this focus on clinical excellence, our investments in technology and innovation, and our unwavering commitment to care like family for our patients.”
Healthgrades evaluated patient mortality and complication rates for 31 of the most common conditions and procedures at nearly 4,500 hospitals across the country to identify the top-performing hospitals. This year’s analysis revealed significant variation between America’s Best 250 Hospitals and hospitals that did not receive the distinction. In fact, if all hospitals performed similarly to America’s 250 Best, over 160,000 lives could have been saved.
