LewisGale Medical Center, a member of the HCA Healthcare network, is pleased to announce the appointment of Collin McLaughlin to the position of chief executive officer (CEO). An experienced healthcare leader, McLaughlin assumed his new role on Nov. 1.

As CEO, McLaughlin is responsible for the day-to-day management and operations of the 506-bed acute care hospital in Salem, which offers a wide range of healthcare specialties including cancer treatment, emergency medicine, cardiovascular care and maternity services. McLaughlin will be instrumental in helping the hospital continue to grow its services and attract and retain the best talent to serve the changing healthcare needs of the community.

“I am honored and humbled to join the LewisGale team,” McLaughlin said. “It’s my goal to build on the outstanding care and patient experience the community has come to expect from LewisGale’s dedicated and compassionate healthcare professionals.” The hospital has served the residents of Southwest Virginia for more than a century.

Prior to joining LewisGale Medical Center, McLaughlin served as CEO of Valley Hospital Medical Center, a 306-bed hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. During his tenure, he led advanced programs in comprehensive stroke care, open heart surgery, and neurosurgery while overseeing a robust graduate medical education program with 90 residents and fellows. McLaughlin also managed three freestanding emergency departments, two of which opened under his leadership, demonstrating his ability to drive growth and expand access to critical services.

“Collin is a leader who genuinely cares about patients and colleagues like family,” said Compton Biddle, chairman of the LewisGale Medical Center Board of Trustees. “I am confident his leadership and steadfast commitment to outstanding clinical quality and a positive culture will help us raise the bar and improve lives in the Salem area and across southern Virginia.”

McLaughlin holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from The George Washington University. He and his wife, Lindsey, are the parents of two children.
