Our surgical services
We offer surgical treatments across various specialties, from general to plastic surgery. Our surgical offerings include:
Our MBSAQIP-accredited bariatric surgery program includes gastric bypass, gastric sleeve and adjustable gastric band procedures.
Bariatric surgery, also called weight loss surgery, is intended to help you lose weight and improve your overall health. Our bariatric surgeons offer a variety of weight loss procedures, including gastric banding and gastric sleeve surgeries. However, not everyone is a candidate for bariatric surgery. Your doctor will help determine if bariatric surgery may be right for you.
The Orthopedic Hospital at Parham Doctors' Hospital offers comprehensive orthopedic care, including orthopedic surgery and a joint replacement program. As part of this program, we offer preoperative education to help you learn what to expect before, during and after your procedure.
Our orthopedic surgeons and neurosurgeons work together to provide full-service spine care. These surgeons continuously seek out innovative options to treat spine conditions and pioneer new techniques for cervical spine disorders. In fact, we were the first in central Virginia to perform cervical artificial disc replacement.
We are among America’s Top 50 Hospitals for vascular surgery and among America's Top 100 Hospitals for coronary intervention, joint replacement, orthopedic, prostate and spine surgeries. We also hold multiple Healthgrades awards for quality and excellent outcomes in bariatric and gynecologic surgeries.
Minimally invasive robotic surgery
Robotic surgery allows your surgeon to operate through only a few small incisions. Using the robot-assisted surgical platform, the surgeon also has an enhanced view of the surgical site and extreme precision while operating.
Robot-assisted joint replacement surgery
We are proud to offer our patients robot-assisted surgery for hip and knee replacements. With robotic joint replacement, your surgeon is able to replace or resurface the affected joint while sparing surrounding healthy tissue.
Benefits of robotic surgery
Some benefits of robotic surgery include:
- A shorter hospital stay
- A faster recovery
- Less postoperative pain
- Less scarring
Keeping your family updated during your surgical procedure
During your surgery, we offer two helpful ways for your loved ones to receive updates on your care:
- Our tracking system is used in the waiting room to keep your loved ones updated with each step of your surgery.
- You can sign up for tracking notifications when you go through preregistration. When you provide your and your loved ones' contact information, we will send email and/or text message alerts of where you are in the surgical process.
Additionally, we provide a comfortable waiting area for your family with free Wi-Fi and coffee and several TVs. For those who prefer a quieter environment, we also have a separate room away from the TVs.
Physical therapy and rehabilitation after surgery
Physical therapy and rehabilitation may be necessary after surgery to help you get up and begin moving again. If you require rehabilitation, our therapists will begin working with you in the hospital. We also offer outpatient rehabilitation services to support you in your recovery after you go home from the hospital.
