Emergency treatment for stroke
As a Primary Stroke Center accredited by The Joint Commission, we provide expert diagnoses and treatments for strokes. We also strive to offer education to the surrounding communities about stroke symptoms and signs that require emergency treatment. Our FastTrack ER offers access to care for less critical injuries or illnesses. Specifically, it is designed to provide care for minor illnesses and injuries that are not emergencies but require treatment within 24 hours, including:

- Constipation or diarrhea
- Cough symptoms
- Prescription refills
- Sore throats
- Suture removals

Intensive care services
The intensive care units (ICUs) at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital offer 24/7 monitoring of patients who are critically ill with life-threatening injuries or diseases. Additionally, we provide advanced care for patients after they have neurological surgery, heart and vascular surgery or kidney transplant surgery.
Neonatal intensive care
Henrico Doctors’ Hospital expands on our intensive care services in our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This large, specially constructed Level III NICU provides critical care for our smallest patients. We offer this service so that parents can feel confident in the advanced care their newborn will receive with us, should they need it.
Pediatric intensive care
We offer exceptional care for children who need critical care in our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Here, our pediatric intensivists are available to care for your child 24/7 and are in contact with your child’s pediatrician throughout their hospital stay. We also employ a child life specialist who helps ease your child’s anxieties and fears about being in the hospital and undergoing upcoming tests and procedures.
We welcome family members and guest visitors in our ICU, but please be aware that nurses may restrict visitation in the best interest of the patient. Visiting hours are typically available daily between 11:00am and 1:00pm and then between 4:00pm and 8:30pm.
