A childbirth experience with a Midwife may sound old fashion to some women, but for Madison Tuohy it was important to have an environment where she felt celebrated and accepted for the “non-traditional” techniques she would be using at StoneSprings Hospital Center.

“As someone who works in holistic therapy as a wellness educator and yoga therapist, I wanted to be in the care of a midwife who understood my unique needs,” said Madison.

“The midwives at StoneSprings Hospital Center as well as the nursing staff in labor and delivery are fantastic,” said Madison. “They listen to you, explain anything you don't understand, and make it a priority to make sure you feel comfortable,” she said.

“The nurses were on board with my birth plan and encouraged me to stick to it when I got tired. I was able to achieve a medication-free birth using hypnobirthing techniques and delivered my baby naturally, in the position that felt good for my body. It felt empowering to accomplish that goal.” said Madison!

Having had a fall early in her pregnancy, Madison praised her midwife for the immediate and ongoing personalized care she received during my pregnancy and through her delivery.

Madison also singled out nurses Heather and Mariana for providing exceptional care and compassion to her during labor and delivery. “I am so grateful for having shared this experience with these two awesome nurses at StoneSprings,” said Madison.

Madison is a licensed yoga therapist & wellness educator through the International Association of Yoga Therapists. “I struggled with anxiety and depression from an early age and later on had chronic Lyme's disease,” said Madison. “Traditional medical protocols stopped working and I saw seven specialists in a year with no answers. Yoga saved my life,” she said.

After a profound experience and healing, Madison became passionate about sharing yoga and therapy with others. In 2019, Madison received a Master’s level Yoga Therapy certificate and has been teaching ever since.

“My purpose in life is to spread the healing and knowledge that turned my life around for the better,” said Madison. “I am committed to women's health, nutrition, and prenatal & postpartum care and I highly recommend StoneSprings Hospital for a compassionate, personalized childbirth experience,” she said.
