“I was experiencing intense pain in my hip and groin which made standing and walking impossible without extreme difficulty,” said Michael Hubbard. That’s when he turned to an orthopedic specialist who ordered X-Rays and an MRI.  It was discovered that he had a fractured hip and would require a hip replacement.

As a sales manager, Michael was used to walking constantly up and down two floors of 10 steps each in his office to assist his sales team. “My pain became so bad that I could no longer do that and my team had to bring their sales issues to me,” he said.

According to Michael, after the hip replacement, the pain, discomfort and immobility in the hip and groin were gone and the new discomfort from the surgical incision from the hip implant was much more manageable.

Within four weeks, Michael was able to stand and walk without assistance of a walker or cane. “I've been able to resume full activities required at work,” said Michael. He is enjoying walks in the many surrounding parks both in Virginia and the Washington area without pain or discomfort. “I'm working on restoring range of motion and complete activities without concern of any discomfort in my hip,” he said.

Michael attributes his great recovery to the robotic assisted procedure performed by his orthopedic surgeon and the outstanding care he received at StoneSprings Hospital. “My entire experience from diagnosis, examination, check in, surgical preparation, anesthesia, surgical procedure recovery, post-surgical care and post-surgical therapy was incredibly comfortable,” he said.

He went on to say: “Everything happened as explained prior to the procedure. I was able to have my family informed of the status and progress of the surgical procedure as it occurred.”  “There’s nothing like the peace of mind of knowing family and loved ones were aware of the status and progress of the surgical procedure as it was happening,” he said.

“In addition, the postoperative process was phenomenal as well. The hospital room was perfectly maintained by the cleaning staff. The entire team from food services, nurses, doctors, therapist, social worker, personnel performing follow-up checks and providing medication needed for recovery was outstanding,” he said. “The head nurse actually visited me personally to inquire and assure that my treatment was provided according to the standards of StoneSprings.”

“To all that participated in my surgical procedure and recovery, I want to say thank you. I appreciate everything that you did,” said Michael.
