HCA Virginia Video Features Pet Therapy Program

December 19, 2013

Richmond, Va. (Dec. 19, 2013) — HCA Virginia recently produced a new video featuring the pet therapy program at HCA Virginia’s Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals.

The video features Fraser - an eight and a half year old black lab-golden mix, who has been with the program since 2007.

For the past six years, Fraser has spread comfort and joy to the faces of countless patients and staff at both hospitals. As the years have continued, the success of the program has been immeasurable with Fraser’s regular visits to patients in Tucker Pavilion, the Thomas Johns Cancer Hospital, which includes Virginia Radiation Oncology, as well as many other areas throughout the hospital.

Although not featured in this video, the pet therapy program also includes Schaffer, a two and a half year old yellow Labrador retriever, who joined in November. As full-time employees, the dogs receive regular hours and benefits such as paid veterinary care, health expenses and supplies needed for the program.
