HCA Virginias Peter A. Marmerstein promoted to President for HCA West Florida Division

Richmond, Virginia, February 21, 2012 – After seven and one-half years as Chief Executive Officer of CJW Medical Center’s Chippenham and Johnston-Willis Hospitals, Peter A. Marmerstein has been promoted to President of HCA’s West Florida Division. He begins his new role on April 1 and will have responsibility for 16 hospitals and 16 surgery centers on the west coast of Florida and near Orlando.

“Working at CJW Medical Center has been a wonderful experience for me professionally and personally,” said Marmerstein. “I will always have great memories of my time here. CJW has an outstanding group of physicians and staff, and I feel privileged to have been associated with them for these past seven years.”

“Peter has been an exceptional leader on many different levels,” said Margaret Lewis, President of HCA’s Richmond-based Capital Division. “He will certainly be missed, but because of his efforts, Chippenham and Johnston-Willis are well-positioned to continue providing superb care to patients going forward.”

Prior to coming to Richmond in 2004, Marmerstein was CEO of several hospitals in Florida and California. He also was a regional vice president of operations at Paracelsus Healthcare Corporation, Houston, Texas, where he had oversight for up to 10 hospitals, six home health agencies and 14 physician clinics.

He received a master’s degree in public administration in healthcare administration from New York University in 1982 and a bachelor’s of arts degree in psychology from Long Island University in 1977.
