Richmond, VA, Aug. 7, 2013 — HCA Virginia has announced that Zach McCluskey, FACHE, will serve as chief operating officer for Retreat Doctors’ Hospital, a campus of Henrico Doctors’ Hospital.
In this role, McCluskey will lead the day-to-day operations for Retreat Doctors’ Hospital and serve as the principal administrator for HCA Virginia’s first free standing ER, West Creek Emergency Center, and the new Hanover Emergency Center scheduled to open next spring.

McCluskey most recently served as the chief operating officer and ethics and compliance officer of HCA’s Stonecrest Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn. Among other accomplishments at Stonecrest, he led initiatives that placed the facility in HCA’s top 10 for patient satisfaction and led the division’s surgical growth initiative.
Prior to that, he began his career with HCA Virginia as an associate administrator at Johnston-Willis Hospital.
He received his master’s degree in health administration and bachelor’s degree in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. McCluskey began his healthcare career as a critical care nurse at VCU Medical Center and has worked as an EMT-Paramedic at various EMS agencies in Central Virginia.
