Richmond, Va. (May 14) – The American Heart Association is partnering with West Creek Emergency Center to offer free, hands-only CPR training during National CPR Week in June.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 at West Creek Emergency Center, 12720 Tuckahoe Creek Court, Richmond and will feature non-certification CPR training that are free and open to the public. Registration is not required and classes will be offered every 30 minutes.
In addition, free health screenings will be offered.
According to the American Heart Association (AHA), nearly 425,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur annually in the United States and about 80 percent of cardiac arrests happen in a private or residential setting. Unfortunately, only 41 percent of people who experience a cardiac arrest at home, work or in public get the immediate help they need before emergency help arrives. CPR is an invaluable skill and knowing how to administer it could mean the difference between life and death.
